Working with small engines is an excellent skill to develop for the fire service. Some examples of small engines are:

  • Concrete saws
  • Generators
  • Hydraulic pumps
  • Positive pressure fan
  • Water pumps

Examples of some jobs that work with small engines:

  • Small engine repair
  • Wildland firefighter
  • Volunteer/Part-time/Paid on-call firefighter
  • Industrial Firefighter
  • Landscaping
  • Plumbers and other trades

Skills:

  • Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting small engines
  • Small engines are used in the fire service and showing a history, competency, and experience with these types of engines is an excellent transferable skill
