Working with small engines is an excellent skill to develop for the fire service. Some examples of small engines are:

- Concrete saws

- Hydraulic pumps
- Positive pressure fan
- Water pumps

- Small engine repair
- Wildland firefighter
- Volunteer/Part-time/Paid on-call firefighter

- Plumbers and other trades
Skills:

- Small engines are used in the fire service and showing a history, competency, and experience with these types of engines is an excellent transferable skill
