Firefighters here respond to a wide range of incidents, including:

🔥 What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
As a firefighter with White Rock Fire Rescue, you will:
- Respond to emergency incidents including fires, rescues, and medical calls
- Provide life-saving medical aid as an EMR or PCP
- Perform fire suppression, ventilation, and search & rescue
- Participate in fire prevention inspections and safety programs
- Engage in public education initiatives
- Maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus
- Train continuously to maintain operational readiness
This role demands teamwork, physical fitness, and strong decision-making under pressure.
💪 Training & Fitness Requirements
Candidates must be physically prepared to:
- Work in hazardous, high-stress environments
- Perform intense physical tasks (lifting, climbing, carrying equipment)
- Maintain fitness standards aligned with Langara College or University of Victoria
✅ Minimum Qualifications (Required)
To apply for this White Rock firefighter job, you must have:
- NFPA 1001 (Firefighter Level I & II)
- NFPA 472 (Hazardous Materials – Operations Level)
- Valid EMR or PCP licence through the BC Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement
- Ability to obtain Class 3 licence during probation
- Recent driver’s abstract (within 30 days)
- Valid fitness certificate (within 12 months)
📋 Additional Requirements
- Canadian Citizen or legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must relocate within required residency boundaries within 3 months
- Successful Police Information & Vulnerable Sector Check
- Meet vision and hearing standards under NFPA 1582
- Pass First Responder Suitability Interview
