Located in Nunavutβs capital city, the Iqaluit Fire Department is seeking motivated, community-minded professionals with strong firefighting, rescue, and medical response skills. Firefighters are responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical care, rescue operations, fire prevention, public education, emergency communications, and apparatus maintenance. ππ₯
Successful candidates will work a rotating 4-on / 4-off schedule consisting of day and night shifts while supporting emergency response operations throughout the City of Iqaluit. Firefighters must demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to perform under pressure in challenging environments. πͺπ¨
π° Firefighter / EMR Salary and Benefits
- π΅ $43.25 per hour
- β±οΈ Average 42-hour work week
- ποΈ Annual settlement allowance of $20,907.43

β Required Firefighter Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- π NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II
- π Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certification
- β€οΈ Current CPR HCP certification
- β£οΈ NFPA 472 or NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations
- π Valid Class 3 Driverβs Licence with air brake endorsement
- π Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- π Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening
- π€ Strong communication and teamwork abilities
β Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
- π©Ί PCP or ACP certification
- π NFPA 1002 Driver/Operator certification
- π§ Trade certification or post-secondary education
- π₯ Previous firefighting experience
- π Heavy equipment or commercial vehicle experience
- β€οΈ Community volunteer involvement
- πΊοΈ Knowledge of Iqaluit geography and emergency response operations
