Firefighter / Medic Responsibilities

As a Firefighter/Medic, you will:

🚒 Respond to fire suppression emergencies

🚑 Provide emergency medical care and patient treatment

🏠 Protect lives, property, and the community

🧯 Perform rescue operations in hazardous environments

👨‍🚒 Work collaboratively as part of an emergency response team

📋 Maintain equipment, readiness, and professional standards

⚡ Respond quickly and effectively to emergency incidents

🛡️ Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess:

✔ Registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics as a:

• Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
• Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)

✔ Successful completion of the University of Alberta Firefighter Fitness Test

✔ Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s Licence

✔ Ability to obtain Alberta Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake (Q) Endorsement before probation completion

✔ Ability to meet NFPA 1582 medical standards

✔ Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

⭐ NFPA 1001 Level I Certification

⭐ NFPA 1001 Level II Certification

⭐ Previous Firefighter Experience

⭐ Emergency Response Experience

⭐ Rescue Operations Training

⭐ Community Service Experience

Work Schedule

🕒 Two (2) 10-hour Day Shifts

🌙 Two (2) 14-hour Night Shifts

🏖 Four (4) Consecutive Days Off
