Position: Firefighter
Department: Community Safety
Location: Burnaby #1 Fire Station
Employment Type: Full-Time (Regular)
Schedule: 84 hours bi-weekly
Union: IAFF Local 323
π° Salary Range
- $7,515 β $10,735 per month
- Competitive firefighter compensation under IAFF agreement

π₯ What Burnaby Firefighters Do
Emergency Response
- Respond to fire alarms, rescues, and emergency incidents
- Perform fire suppression and hazard mitigation
- Provide emergency medical assistance
Fire Prevention & Public Education
- Deliver fire safety education programs
- Conduct community outreach and awareness initiatives
Equipment & Station Duties
- Maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment
- Perform routine station maintenance

Firefighters with the Burnaby Fire Department work in:

β Minimum Qualifications
Required
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid BC Class 3 Driverβs Licence with air brake endorsement
- NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II certification
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
- Clean driving record (max 6 points in last 3 years)
- No disqualifying criminal convictions
Preferred / Assets
- First Responder certification (FR3 or higher)
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
- Additional fire, medical, or technical certifications
