The City of Beaumont Fire Services is recruiting a Firefighter – Probationary 4th Class to join its growing Protective Services team.

Located within the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, Beaumont is a growing community offering firefighters the opportunity to work in a progressive department while responding to a diverse range of emergency incidents.

This recruitment is for one full-time firefighter position, along with an eligibility list for future positions.

🚒 About the Beaumont Firefighter Position

Beaumont Fire Services is looking for an experienced firefighter who can work effectively in a team environment and contribute to emergency response, operational readiness, training, fire prevention, and public safety.

Firefighters may respond to a variety of emergency calls, including:

  • 🔥 Structure and other fire-related incidents
  • 🚗 Motor vehicle collisions
  • 🛟 Rescue incidents
  • ☣️ Hazardous materials incidents
  • 🚑 Medical first response calls
  • 🚨 Other emergency situations in accordance with departmental protocols

Firefighters will also participate in post-incident debriefings and ensure firefighting equipment and apparatus are properly inspected, maintained, and ready for service.

🧯 Firefighter Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the operational effectiveness of Beaumont Fire Services.

Emergency Response

Firefighters will:

  • Respond to fires, MVCs, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, and medical first response calls.
  • Follow departmental protocols and established safety procedures.
  • Participate in post-incident debriefings.
  • Ensure equipment is inspected and ready for future emergency calls.

🚒 Operational Readiness

Responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting, cleaning, and maintaining firefighting equipment.
  • Maintaining fire apparatus and operational equipment.
  • Keeping the fire station and surrounding grounds clean and ready for use.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.

📚 Training & Professional Development

Firefighters will also:

  • Support the training and development of Volunteer Firefighters.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional sessions.
  • Develop detailed knowledge of Beaumont’s streets, infrastructure, water supply, and potential hazards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and ongoing training.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused workplace.

🎓 Beaumont Firefighter Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • 🎓 Grade 12 education or equivalent
  • 🇨🇦 Legally entitled to work in Canada as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent/Landed Immigrant
  • 🔥 NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and II, IFSAC and/or Pro Board accredited
  • 🚒 NFPA 1002 Driver & Pumper Operator, IFSAC and/or Pro Board accredited
  • ☣️ NFPA 1072/470 Awareness & Operations, IFSAC and/or Pro Board accredited
  • 🚗 Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence with Q endorsement
  • 📄 Clean driving abstract
  • ⛑️ Standard First Aid with CPR/AED or higher
  • 👨‍🚒 Minimum 3 years of continuous and active fire service experience

🏃 Firefighter Fitness Test

Final candidates will be required to complete pre-employment screening, which includes:
