Firefighter Certifications

Applicants must have:

🔥 NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II
☣️ NFPA 1072 / NFPA 472 Hazardous Materials Awareness/Operations or equivalent recognized by the Authority Having Jurisdiction
🏅 Proof of Pro Board or IFSAC certification

First Aid

Driver’s Licence

Firefighter Testing

Water Rescue / Swim Requirement

Applicants must have:

🌊 NFPA 1006 Surface Water Rescue – Level II (2013 Standard) or Operations Level (2021 Standard)

OR

🏊 OFAI Swim Test with a current and valid certificate.

The posting also requires candidates to demonstrate swimming proficiency and successfully complete the required swim assessment.


👁️ Vision & Physical Requirements

Candidates must meet the vision requirements established by NFPA 1582.

Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to safely perform the intense and sustained physical activities associated with firefighting, including working in physically demanding and stressful environments.

Firefighters must be capable of working rotating 24-hour shifts, including:
