The Town of Whitby is recruiting Probationary Firefighters to join Whitby Fire and Emergency Services. This is an excellent opportunity for certified firefighters looking to build a rewarding career serving one of Ontario’s fastest-growing municipalities. Successful candidates will respond to emergency incidents, provide medical care, participate in specialized rescue operations, perform fire prevention activities, and support public education initiatives.
Salary
- Starting Salary: $74,036 per year

- 24-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
- Pre-Service Firefighter Program or NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II (IFSAC or Pro Board)
- Successful completion of all six OFAI Candidate Testing Services
- Valid Swim Test (or complete Whitby’s swim test if selected)
- Current Standard First Aid, CPR-C & AED
- Valid Ontario Class D Driver’s Licence with Z endorsement
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Strong physical fitness and teamwork skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications

- Higher-level EMS or medical training
- Swimming certifications
