The Toronto Fire Services is now accepting applications for 20+ Full-Time Permanent Firefighter Operations positions. As a Toronto Firefighter, you’ll respond to fires, medical emergencies, technical rescues, hazardous materials incidents, and public safety emergencies while working alongside one of Canada’s most respected fire services.

Firefighter Duties

Successful candidates will:

• Respond to emergency fire, rescue and medical incidents
• Perform search and rescue operations
• Operate fire apparatus and emergency equipment
• Provide CPR and Emergency Medical Response
• Conduct fire inspections and pre-incident planning
• Maintain firefighting equipment and apparatus
• Participate in ongoing firefighter training
• Deliver public fire safety education
• Work effectively alongside police, paramedics and other emergency responders

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• ✅ Minimum 18 years of age
• ✅ Legally entitled to work in Canada
• ✅ Ontario Class D Driver’s Licence (or higher) with Z Air Brake Endorsement
• ✅ Current OFAI Candidate Testing Services:
  • Stage 1 Aptitude
  • Stage 2 Hearing
  • Stage 2 Vision
  • Stage 2 Encapsulated Treadmill
  • Stage 3 Firefighter Physical Aptitude Test (FPAT)
• ✅ NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II (IFSAC or ProBoard)
• ✅ Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
• ✅ Ability to work 24-hour shifts
• ✅ Pass Vulnerable Sector Check
• ✅ Strong physical fitness and water survival skills

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following experience are encouraged to apply:

• Advanced medical experience (Paramedic, Nurse, Lifeguard, Ski Patrol)
• OFAI Swim Test
• Bronze Medallion or Bronze Cross
• Heavy vehicle operation
• Military experience
• Healthcare experience
• Community volunteer service
• Multilingual abilities
• Mechanical aptitude
