๐ฅ Firefighter Responsibilities
As a Firefighter with Windsor Fire & Rescue Services, you will:
๐ Respond to structure fires and emergency incidents
๐ Provide emergency medical care, CPR, AED, and first aid
๐ Respond to motor vehicle collisions and rescues
โฃ๏ธ Respond to hazardous materials emergencies
๐ข Enter burning or contaminated structures to rescue occupants
๐ Operate and drive fire apparatus
๐งฏ Perform fire suppression, overhaul, and salvage operations
๐ซ Participate in fire prevention inspections and public education
๐งน Maintain fire stations, apparatus, and firefighting equipment
๐ Attend ongoing firefighter training and skills development
โ๏ธ Attend court proceedings and participate in community events
โ Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have:
โ Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
โ Valid Ontario Class D Driver’s Licence with Z Endorsement
โ Current Standard First Aid & Basic Life Support (BLS)
โ Successful completion of:
- Job Related Agility Test
- Firefighter Aptitude Test
- Physical Ability Test
- Swim Test
โ Ability to successfully complete an NFPA 1582 medical examination
โ Ability to perform physically demanding work under hazardous conditions
โญ Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are considered assets:
โญ NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II
โญ Firefighter education
โญ College or University education
โญ Skilled trades experience
โญ Construction industry experience
โญ Emergency medical experience
โญ Technical rescue training
