The Yellowknife Fire Division provides both firefighting and paramedic services to the community.

As a Fire Fighter / Primary Care Paramedic, you will respond to a wide range of emergency incidents while helping protect lives, property, and the environment.

✅ Required Qualifications

Successful applicants must possess:

🎓 High School Diploma or Equivalent

🚑 Current Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) License and Registration from a Canadian Jurisdiction (or equivalent)

🚒 NFPA 1001 Level I Certification

🚒 NFPA 1001 Level II Certification

🚛 Valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement

✔️ No Current or Pending Driver’s Licence Suspensions

📋 Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check

💬 Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills

💪 Ability to work safely in physically demanding and high-stress environments

Salary rates shown are based on the 2023 collective agreement and are currently under negotiation.

This allows experienced firefighters and firefighter/paramedics to potentially enter the department at a higher salary classification.
