π₯ Firefighter & EMS Responsibilities
Firefighter/Paramedics in Brandon provide both fire suppression and advanced medical care.
Fire Suppression & Rescue
- Respond to fire alarms and emergencies
- Perform search and rescue, ventilation, overhaul, and salvage
- Operate firefighting equipment and apparatus
Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Provide Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) level care or higher
- Respond to medical emergencies and trauma calls
- Deliver patient care in accordance with Manitoba Health protocols
Community Paramedicine
- Support proactive healthcare programs
- Provide care within community settings, including detention units
Dispatch & Communication
- Assist with call-taking and dispatch operations
- Log emergency call information and coordinate response
Equipment & Facility Maintenance
- Maintain ambulances, fire apparatus, and PPE
- Perform station and equipment upkeep
Public Education & Prevention
- Participate in fire prevention programs
- Deliver public safety education

Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Employment Requirements
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen
Firefighter / Paramedic Experience
- Currently serving Firefighter/Paramedic with recognized service
Medical Certification
- Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or higher
Driverβs Licence
- Valid Manitoba Class 4 Driverβs Licence (or equivalent)
- Acceptable driverβs abstract
Background Checks
- Criminal Record Check
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Child & Adult Abuse Registry Check
Medical & Fitness Standards
- Meet required vision and hearing standards
- Acceptable discipline and training record
