Strathcona County is recruiting Full-Time Firefighter Paramedics to join its fully integrated emergency services team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. This exciting opportunity allows professionals to serve the community in both fire suppression and emergency medical response roles.
Members respond to fire, rescue, and EMS incidents while supporting department training, safety initiatives, and community emergency preparedness programs.

π₯ Firefighter Paramedic Responsibilities
Firefighter Paramedics are assigned to ambulance or fire apparatus on a rotating basis and perform a variety of emergency response duties including:
π Respond to emergency calls including fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazardous incidents
π Provide advanced or primary care paramedic services to patients
π Operate fire and EMS equipment safely at emergency scenes
π Participate in training exercises and career development programs
π Perform station, vehicle, and equipment maintenance
π Complete incident reporting and administrative documentation
π Support departmental projects, public safety programs, and community initiatives
β Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
β Registered Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) with the Alberta College of Paramedics
β Valid Alberta Class 4 driverβs license
β Clean driverβs abstract (less than 7 demerits)
β Ability to meet NFPA medical and physical standards
β Pass Vulnerable Sector Check
β Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following assets will be highly competitive:
β NFPA 1001 Level I & II (Firefighter Certification)
β ITLS, PALS, or ACLS certifications
β Emergency services or fire rescue experience
β Strong teamwork and communication skills
β Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of building construction
β Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
β Demonstrated physical fitness and mental resilience
Successful candidates without NFPA certification will receive training through the department.
