πŸ”₯ Firefighter Paramedic Responsibilities

Firefighter Paramedics are assigned to ambulance or fire apparatus on a rotating basis and perform a variety of emergency response duties including:

πŸ‘‰ Respond to emergency calls including fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazardous incidents
πŸ‘‰ Provide advanced or primary care paramedic services to patients
πŸ‘‰ Operate fire and EMS equipment safely at emergency scenes
πŸ‘‰ Participate in training exercises and career development programs
πŸ‘‰ Perform station, vehicle, and equipment maintenance
πŸ‘‰ Complete incident reporting and administrative documentation
πŸ‘‰ Support departmental projects, public safety programs, and community initiatives


βœ… Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

βœ” Registered Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) with the Alberta College of Paramedics
βœ” Valid Alberta Class 4 driver’s license
βœ” Clean driver’s abstract (less than 7 demerits)
βœ” Ability to meet NFPA medical and physical standards
βœ” Pass Vulnerable Sector Check


⭐ Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following assets will be highly competitive:

βœ” NFPA 1001 Level I & II (Firefighter Certification)
βœ” ITLS, PALS, or ACLS certifications
βœ” Emergency services or fire rescue experience
βœ” Strong teamwork and communication skills
βœ” Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of building construction
βœ” Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
βœ” Demonstrated physical fitness and mental resilience

Successful candidates without NFPA certification will receive training through the department.
