The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is now hiring Firefighter Paramedics (PCP/ACP) and Non-Fire Trained Advanced Care Paramedics (ACP) for Permanent Full-Time positions within Regional Emergency Services (RES).

This is a unique opportunity to join a fully integrated Fire & EMS service operating in one of Alberta’s highest call-volume and most dynamic emergency response regions.

πŸš’ About the Role

RMWB Regional Emergency Services delivers:

  • Fire suppression and rescue operations

  • Advanced Life Support EMS

  • Helicopter medical & rescue services

  • High-acuity emergency response

  • Public education and fire prevention initiatives

Firefighter Paramedics perform dual fire and EMS duties.
Non-Fire Trained ACPs focus exclusively on advanced pre-hospital medical care, with optional fire training opportunities.


πŸ’° Compensation (2026 Rates)

  • Probationary: $50.66/hour

  • Probationary ACP: $54.46/hour

  • Firefighter Rate: $53.83/hour

  • ACP Rate: $55.73/hour

  • COLA: $480 bi-weekly

Plus full IAFF Local 2494 benefits and pension.


βœ… Required Qualifications

For Firefighter PCP/ACP:

  • NFPA 1001 Level I & II

  • Alberta College of Paramedics PCP or ACP Certification

  • Valid CPR – Basic Cardiac Life Support

  • High School Diploma or GED

For Non-Fire Trained ACP:

  • Alberta College of Paramedics ACP Certification

  • CPR – BCLS

  • High School Diploma or GED

Additional Requirements:

  • Alberta Class 4 Driver’s Licence with Q endorsement (required)

  • Class 3 with Q endorsement (preferred)

  • Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
