🔹 Position Overview

Surrey Fire Service firefighters perform:

  • Fire suppression and emergency response

  • Medical incident support (First Responder and higher EMA levels)

  • Fire inspections and prevention education

  • Community outreach initiatives

  • Dispatch collaboration

  • Administrative reporting

This role requires professionalism, teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to public service.


🔹 Salary (2026 Rates)

💰 $90,176.52 – $136,540.08 annually
Union Position – IAFF


🔹 Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada (Citizen or PR)

  • Have Grade 12 or equivalent

  • Have 2+ years of work experience after high school

  • Hold a valid Class 3 or Class 1 BC Driver’s License (air brake endorsement)

  • Hold a current BC EMA First Responder License or higher (EMR, PCP, ACP)

  • Meet NFPA 1582 medical standards

  • Be fluent in English (written and verbal)

  • Live within Metro Vancouver or Fraser Valley Regional District (geographic limits apply)

  • Complete the Surrey Fire Service Basic Firefighting Knowledge Course OR hold NFPA 1001 Level I or II (IFSAC/ProBoard)


🔹 Preferred Qualifications

Strong applicants may also have:

  • Post-secondary education (credits, diploma, degree, Red Seal)

  • Experience in fire, police, military, healthcare, Coast Guard, wildfire, or search and rescue

  • Hospitality or public-facing customer service experience

  • Team sports or coaching background

  • Volunteer or nonprofit experience

  • Multilingual abilities (including ASL)
