The Township of Langley is hiring up to eight (8) Regular Full-Time Firefighters to join Protective Services – Fire Division in 2026.

If you are a certified NFPA 1001 Level II Firefighter with hazardous materials training and a valid BC Class 3 licence, this is an opportunity to build your firefighting career in one of British Columbia’s fastest-growing communities.

Pay Range: $41.15 – $62.31 per hour

About the Firefighter Position

Langley Firefighters perform firefighting, rescue, public education, fire prevention, inspections, training, and apparatus maintenance. Members work alongside career and paid-call firefighters and must be capable of making operational decisions until a fire officer arrives.

This role requires the ability to perform prolonged and physically demanding work under adverse and emergency conditions.


Required Qualifications

To apply, candidates must meet the following minimum firefighter requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma, GED, or equivalent (trade certificate, diploma, or degree accepted)

  • Minimum 19 years of age (by closing date)

  • Legal entitlement to work in Canada

  • Fluent in English (written and verbal)

  • No criminal convictions related to firefighter duties

  • Physically and psychologically suitable under NFPA 1582 medical standards

  • Successful Police Information Check (Child Safety position)

  • Meet Township of Langley residency requirements (Metro Vancouver region)


Required Firefighter Certifications (Valid at Closing Date)

Applicants must upload proof of:

  • NFPA 1001 Level II Certification (IFSAC or ProBoard Seals)

  • NFPA 472 or NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Certification

  • Current recognized First Aid & CPR Level C (FR III, EMR, Paramedic or equivalent)

  • Valid BC Class 3 or Class 1 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement

  • 5-Year Personal Driving Record (issued within 30 days of closing)

  • Firefighter Fitness Testing (approved provider between April 12, 2025 – April 12, 2026)

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Auto extrication training

  • Rope rescue certification

  • Confined space rescue training

  • Incident Command System (ICS) training

  • Experience delivering public fire and life safety education

  • Knowledge of fire codes and standards
