Full-Time Career Firefighter Opportunity

The City of Penticton Fire Services is seeking highly skilled, physically fit, and community-focused individuals to join our team of professional Career Firefighters.
Fire Services supports a safe community by responding to emergencies, minimizing injury and property loss, conducting fire prevention inspections, and delivering public education programs.
This role involves 24-hour shifts, day and night rotations, and schedule flexibility in accordance with the departmentβs Flex Firefighter Policy.

π Emergency response and fire suppression
π Medical first response
π Public education and fire prevention inspections
π Apparatus and equipment maintenance
π Team-based emergency operations
π Availability for short-term emergency callouts
β Required Qualifications
β Secondary School Graduation
β NFPA 1001 Levels I & II (IFSAC or PROBOARD, including HazMat)
β NFPA 1582 medical, hearing & vision standards
β Valid BC Class 3 Driverβs Licence with Air Brake Endorsement
β Current BC EMA Licensing Board First Responder (or EMR, PCP, ACP)
β 5-year Driverβs Abstract (within 15 days of application)
β Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
β Exceptional swimming ability
β Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
β Ability to reside within the Fire Protection Area or adjacent municipality
β Commitment to maintaining physical fitness
β Assets Considered
β Post-secondary education (academic, trades, technical)
β Minimum 2 years work experience post-secondary school
β Bronze Medallion
β Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
β Fire service related training
β Volunteer or community involvement
β Strong physical health and substance-free lifestyle
