Key Responsibilities

  • Fire suppression and emergency response operations

  • Emergency medical response, rescue, and extrication

  • Public education, inspections, and fire prevention initiatives

  • Operation of fire apparatus, pumps, ladders, and rescue equipment

  • Scene safety, teamwork with allied agencies, and customer service

  • Station, vehicle, and equipment maintenance

  • Participation in ongoing training and professional development

Required Qualifications

Applicants must possess all certifications at time of application, including:

  • OFAI Candidate Testing Service (CTS)

    • Stage 1: Firefighter Aptitude & Character Test

    • Stage 2: Hearing, Vision, Encapsulated Treadmill

    • Stage 3: FPAT & Technical Skills Assessment

    • OFAI Swim Test

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II (IFSAC or Pro Board)

  • NFPA 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations

  • Ontario DZ driver’s licence (or equivalent)

  • Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or equivalent

  • CPR-BLS

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent

Assets (Preferred)

  • NFPA 1002 – Driver/Operator

  • NFPA 1035 – Fire & Life Safety Educator

  • NFPA 1006 – Technical Rescue

  • Emergency Vehicle Technician certification

Conditions of Employment

  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Psychological and medical assessments

  • Driver’s abstract meeting City standards

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends & holidays
