Position Overview
As a Probationary Firefighter, you will perform skilled, physically demanding, and hazardous work under emergency conditions. Responsibilities include firefighting, rescue operations, emergency medical response, fire prevention, public education, and ongoing professional training. Firefighters work under the direction of senior officers but must also demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to operate independently when required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
Perform fire suppression, rescue, and emergency response operations
-
Respond to emergency calls involving risk to life and property
-
Operate firefighting equipment, hose lines, ladders, extinguishers, and ventilation tools
-
Provide emergency patient care, first aid, and firefighter safety practices
-
Remove individuals from danger and administer first aid as required
-
Operate, maintain, and inspect fire apparatus, equipment, and facilities
-
Participate in fire prevention activities, inspections, and public education programs
-
Attend and participate in all in-service and specialized training
Required Qualifications
-
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
-
NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I & II Certification
-
Valid Ontario Class DZ Driver’s Licence with acceptable driver’s abstract
-
Excellent physical condition and ability to pass a medical examination
-
Strong teamwork skills, mental alertness, and mechanical aptitude

Ability to follow and communicate written and verbal instructions effectively
-
Ability to interact professionally with the public in diverse situations

Willingness to participate in all required training
-
Valid First Aid and CPR certification (considered an asset)
