About the Role
The City of Yellowknife is hiring Fire Fighters / Primary Care Paramedics to join its Department of Public Safety. This role provides an exciting and rewarding career serving the Yellowknife community. Candidates will perform firefighting, emergency medical response, rescue operations, fire prevention, public education, and life safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies, providing efficient and professional service.

Perform fire suppression, rescue, extrication, and emergency medical care and transport.

Maintain fire apparatus, equipment, and facilities to ensure readiness and safety.

Participate in scheduled training programs, technical exercises, and drills.

Conduct fire inspections, community education, and public safety programs.

Work safely in physically and psychologically demanding conditions while communicating effectively and respectfully.
Qualifications

Minimum 18 years of age; Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Current Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) license from any Canadian jurisdiction.

Completion of NFPA 1001 Level I & II firefighter standards.

Valid Class 3 driver’s license with Airbrake endorsement, no suspensions.

Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check.
Assets: NFPA 1002, 1072 Hazmat, 1006 Rescue, and 1051 Wildland certifications.
