Purpose of the Position
The Experienced Firefighter/Paramedic in Brandon will:
-
Respond to emergency calls, including fires, rescues, and medical emergencies
-
Provide primary care at the PCP level or higher, in accordance with Manitoba Health Guidelines
-
Participate in Community Paramedicine programs for Brandon residents
-
Deliver public education, fire prevention, and non-emergency services
-
Maintain and operate emergency vehicles, equipment, and protective gear
This position requires integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to public service.
Key Responsibilities
-
Respond to fire alarms and perform firefighting duties including search and rescue, ventilation, salvage, and overhaul

Attend emergency medical calls and provide assessment and care

Provide medical services within the Brandon Police Services Detention Unit
-
Log emergency and business calls, dispatch personnel and equipment as required
-
Participate in ongoing in-house and external training to maintain certifications
-
Maintain records, reports, and forms related to emergency services
-
Perform housekeeping and maintenance of facilities, vehicles, and equipment
-
Conduct public fire education and fire prevention programs
-
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
-
Permanent Resident legally entitled to work in Canada
-
Serving Firefighter/Paramedic with a recognized paramedic service
-
Valid Class 4 Province of Manitoba driver’s license (or equivalent) with acceptable driving record

Satisfactory Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child & Adult Abuse Registry Check
-
Meets vision, hearing, and training standards set by BFES
-
Discipline record acceptable to Brandon Fire and Emergency Services
Work Conditions
-
Collaborative, team-oriented environment
-
Work in confined spaces, heights, hazardous environments, and varying weather conditions

Shift work, overtime, and call-outs may be required
-
Responsible to the Captain or designated supervisor
