Position Overview
Brandon Fire & Emergency Services (BFES) is seeking highly skilled and motivated Firefighter/Paramedics to join its emergency services team. This role delivers integrated fire suppression, rescue, emergency and non-emergency medical services to the City of Brandon and surrounding area.
As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will respond to a wide range of emergency situations, provide medical care at the Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) level, support public safety initiatives, and maintain a high standard of professionalism, readiness, and teamwork.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Responds to fire alarms to suppress, control, and extinguish fires

Performs ventilation, search and rescue, overhaul, and salvage operations
-
Responds to medical emergencies and provides care at the PCP level in accordance with Manitoba Health protocols
-
Provides medical assessment and care within the Brandon Police Services Detention Unit
-
Receives and processes emergency and business calls, assisting with dispatch
-
Participates in in-house and external training to maintain required certifications
-
Maintains records, reports, and documentation related to emergency services delivery
-
Operates, cleans, and maintains fire, rescue, and ambulance apparatus and PPE
-
Performs station housekeeping and facility maintenance duties

Conducts public fire education and fire prevention activities
-
Performs other duties as assigned
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
-
Grade 12, GED, or Mature High School Diploma
-
Successfully completed (or equivalent):
-
NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels 1 & 2
-
Primary Care Paramedic (PCP)
-
NFPA 1002 Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator
-
NFPA 472 HazMat Awareness & Operations
-
NFPA 1035 Fire Life Safety Educator
-
Rescue Practices
-
-
Certificate in Public Fire Paramedic Program (or equivalent)
-
Valid Manitoba Class 4 Driverβs Licence with Air
-
Valid College of Paramedics of Manitoba β Certificate of Practice
